About Astro
ASTRO (아스트로) is a South Korean boy group that formed in 2016 by Fantagio music. The group consists of six male members (Moonbin, Sanha, Rocky, MJ, Cha Eunwoo and JinJin). On February 23, 2016 Astro released their debut extended play “Spring Up” which featured the song “Hide & Seek” and within a week, their track reached #6 on the Billboard World Albums Chart in the United States and also #4 on the Gaon Music Charts.
Things were going great for the new boy group and on March 6, 2016 they were invited to the LeTV Entertainment Awards in China (being the only Korean act to have been invited).
On July 1, 2016 ASTRO released their second extended play “Summer Vibes” which once again ranked as #6 on the Billboard World Albums Chart.
Shortly after releasing their second seasonal album, on July 31, 2016 the group performed at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles for KCON 2016 followed by performing their first live concert on August 27 – August 28, 2016 held at the KEPCO Art Centre in Seoul.
On November 10, 2016 ASTRO released their extended play “Autumn Story” followed by “Winter Dream” on February 22, 2017, however, unfortunately “Winter Dream” did not receive promotion on any music shows. Aside from that, Astro continued to pump out music with their fourth extended play “Dream Part.01” which was released on May 29, 2017.
In between July 15 – August 29, 2017 the boy group went on their first tour titled “The 1st ASTROAD” in cities Seoul, Osaka and Tokyo.
On November 1, 2017 ASTRO released their fifth extended play “Dream Part.02” followed by releasing a limited edition to “Dream Part.02” on January 2018 which sold out all 10,000 copies.
In the months of February – March 2018, the boy group travelled to places such as the United States, Canada, Japan, Thailand as well as South Korea for fan meet and greets.
On July 24, 2018 ASTRO once again released more music with the album “Rise Up”. Unfortunately, the album failed to be promoted once again due to internal issues regarding Fantagio Music.
Aside from internal issues, the group persevered and went on tour titled “ASTROAD ll in Japan” throughout the month of August 2018, travelling to cities such as Nagoya, Osaka and Tokyo.
For the year of 2019, Astro didn’t hold back their potential and released full-length album “All Light” on January 16, 2019. In addition to their release, the group announced they would be touring across Asia and North America titled “The 2nd ASTROAD Tour”.
Following suit to their productive start to the year, on January 29, 2019 the group received their first award on the SBS MTV music program “The Show”.
On April 3, 2019 ASTRO released their Japan debut EP “Venus” which ranked as #2 on popular music site Oricon.
Moonbin

Moonbin was born in Cheongju, Chungbuk , South Korea and has a younger sister who is also pursuing a singing career as a YG Entertainment Trainee.
He was introduced to the entertainment business at a young age, starring as a child actor and model. He’s been featured in commercials for Blue Dog, Sole and Tiffany as well as filming a Samsung CF.
He has also appeared in shows DBSK’s Balloons MV as Mini U-Know Yunho and on SBS Star King as Mini DBSK – UKnow Yunho both in 2006 & 2007.
Moonbin graduated Hanlim Multi Arts High School (Practical Music).
In his spare time when he’s not practising or touring with ASTRO, he enjoys playing video games, watching American Football or NFL and eating.

Sanha

Sanha was born in Seoul, South Korea and has two older brothers born in both 1995 and 1998. Sanha is the youngest member of ASTRO and is known to be the kind, sweet and innocent one out of the group.
Growing up, sanha attended A-Sound Music Academy and learnt how to play the guitar.
On December 16, 2012 sanha was accepted as an iTeen trainee for Fantagio (who he is still currently with for ASTRO). In addition to becoming accepted, he participated in Fantagio’s drama “To Be Continued” in 2015.
Sanha’s number one hobby is eating!
Surprisingly, sanha almost didn’t make the cut for ASTRO simply due to his height. Thankfully, however, he had a growth spurt and was able to continue forward.

Rocky

Rocky was born in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea and was nicknamed “Dancing Machine” by Fantagio staff members.
He graduated from Eonbuck Middle School and then attended Seoul Music Highschool from months February – October 2015. He did, however, transfer to Hanlim Multi Arts High School in October 2015.
Growing up, rocky has always been a brave and hard working young man who enjoys to challenge himself. On July 14, 2011 (at age 12) he auditioned for TVN Korea’s Got Talent and also made an appearance in MNet Drama, “Perseverance Goo Haera” in 2015.
Rocky has mentioned that if he wasn’t a singer, he would be a dance teacher.

MJ

MJ was born in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. His favorite food is seafood and says he’d love to own his own sushi restaurant one day.
When MJ was a child, he loved architectural design and always envisioned himself to grow up and become one himself. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until MJ reached highschool when he realised how much study goes into becoming one and he decided on a different career path.
In 2012, MJ received a one year scholarship for Seoul National University after auditioning with JYP Entertainment X HUM and winning the contest.
In 2015, MJ also appeared in Fantagio’s drama “To Be Continued”.

Eun-woo was born in Sabon District, Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea and has a younger sibling who is currently doing his studies in China. He is both a singer and actor.
Throughout his early life, eun-woo attended Suri Middle School and continued onto studying at Suri High School. In 2016, eun-woo graduated from Hanlim Multi Art School and is currently majoring in performing arts whilst attending Sungkyunkwan University.
In 2014, eun-woo landed a small part in the film “My Brilliant Life”.
In August 2015, eun-woo also appeared in the Fantagio web drama “To Be Continued”.
The year 2016 was pretty wild for Cha Eunwoo, with the release of ASTRO’s extended play “Spring Up” in February 2016, and two roles in two different shows “Replies That Make Us Flutter” and “Boomshakalaka”.
From 2016 – 2018, eun-woo became the MC of the show “Showl Music Core” alongside two other people.
In the year 2017 – 2018, Cha Eunwoo landed himself a variety of roles in different drama series and making a name for himself. He immediately grew a larger fanbase and gained a huge following.
It was also in 2018, when Cha Eunwoo was included in GQ Korea’s ‘Men of the Year’.
Now in 2019, Eunwoo is currently still with ASTRO but also is a cast member in the drama “Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung”.

JinJin

JinJin was born in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea and also has an older brother.
At a young age, JinJin began street dancing (while still attending secondary school) and through that he won multiple competitions.
Similar to his band friends, JinJin graduated from Hanlim Multi Arts High School and also attended NY Dance Academy in Ilsan prior to joining Fantagio as a trainee.
After three years of training, JinJin finally debuted in 2015. He also appeared in Fantagio’s drama “To Be Continued” that year.
Along with his special talents of rapping and dancing, he is also an amazing beat boxer plus can play the guitar and drums!
