About ATEEZ

ATEEZ is a South Korean Kpop boys band. They’re fairly new to the scene; they debuted last year under KQ Entertainment. It was announced on July 8, 2019, they also signed under the U.S. label, RCA Records. The group was originally named KQ Fellaz.

There was a lot of fanfare well before their official musical debut in October 2018. KQ Entertainment released a series of 20 Youtube videos titled “KQ Fellaz American Training.”

The series followed the group through their rigorous training at the prestigious Millenium Dance Complex in Los Angeles. In May 2018, the first video in the series was released. The song from the video is called “From.” The final video in the series was released on July 3, 2018.

KQ Entertainment also released three teasers counting down to their reality show called “Code Name is ATEEZ,” which premiered on July 20, 2018. During the second teaser, they announced the band’s name change to ATEEZ.

From October 8 through October 23, 2018, the group released teaser photos every day, counting down to their debut. On October 24, 2018, they finally released their debut EP, Treasure EP.1: All To Zero. It reached number seven on the Gaon Albums Chart. Their first performance was on M Countdown on October 25.

Their follow-up EP, Treasure EP.2: Zero To One, was released on January 15, 2019, along with music videos for two of the tracks. And on June 10, 2019, the next album in the series was released titled Treasure EP.3: One To All. 

And the final record in the series titled Treasure EP.Fin: All To Action, was released September 18, 2019. There were a total of six singles released from all four albums, along with videos for many of their songs.

ATEEZ has also toured throughout many countries including five stops in the U.S., ten stops in Europe, two stops in Australia, and one in Indonesia. The group won the Best Performance Award at Soribada Best K-Music Awards.

Kim Hongjoong Bio

Kim Hongjoong is a South Korean singer and songwriter who goes by the stage name Hongjoong. Kim was born in Anyang, South Korea. He attended the SIMS academy but was not in school much due to his training. He appeared on the show “MIXNINE Just Dance” and ranked 7th.

In 2018, Kim joined a new boy group under the KQ label. The group had eight members and was called KQ Fellaz, named after their label KQ Entertainment. Before their music debut, KQ released a series of Youtube videos that followed the group through their rigorous training in a Los Angeles dance school. In the summer of 2018, it was announced that the group was changing its name to ATEEZ. They started to release teasers of their new music coming up.

On October 24, 2018, ATEEZ debuted with their first EP, Treasure EP.1: All To Zero. That EP was followed by three more EPs released in late 2018 through October 2019. The group was very active and released singles and music videos throughout that time. They had an international tour throughout the U.S., Europe, and Australia.

Other performers including Bae Yoonjung and Choi Youngjun, noticed Kim and were very impressed with his singing and dancing. He would like to collaborate with Atiny someday.

Kim would like to have been a record producer if not a singer. He has written over 40 songs but only for the group. He hasn’t written any solo music yet. He once recorded a song 1,395 times. He stated he wanted to become an idol because he wanted to “express energy and influence others.” His name means to be the center of the world.

Kim has been learning English by watching shows on Netflix like “Modern Family.” He loves traveling with the group, taking photos, and making great memories. Kim said he already had an international tour planned while the group was still training. He listed his hobbies as listening to music, composing, and fashion. He attended SIMS Academy.
