About DBSK
DBSK was a five-member South Korean Kpop group under the SM Entertainment agency. They debuted on December 26, 2003. The group quickly went mainstream with their first single “Hug,” in 2004. It peaked at number four on the MIAK music chart. In 2009, Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu left the group due to contract disputes. The remaining members, Yunho and Changmin then changed their name to TVXQ.
During formation in 2003, the five members were scouted from four different SM training teams. When they released their first single “Hug,” it wasn’t an immediate hit. However, after they made their initial television debut, the single rose on the charts and won awards.
From 2004 to 2005, more albums were released. Their album Rising Sun debuted at number one and was considered their breakthrough album.
Throughout the next four years, DBSK toured and relased more music with most tracks charting within the top ten. The group released Japanese versions of their popular hits which broke records on the Japanese music charts.
In 2009, Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu wanted to leave SM Entertainment as they felt the contract was too long and they were not getting their fair share of the profit from the group. They obtained an injunction in October 2009, and their last public performance together was December 31, 2009.
The two group members remaining, Yunho and Changmin named themselves TVXQ and continued releasing successful albums. They toured Japan and released Japanese versions of their music.
