About Girl’s Day
Girl’s Day was formed on July 7, 2010 under the Dream T entertainment label. The name originates from the Japanese holiday of the same name. The group currently consists of four members: Sojin, Yura, Mina, and Hyeri.
Original members Jisun and Jiin left shortly after the groups debut in 2010 to pursue individual interests. Their replacement Jihae would leave in 2012 due to personal reasons.
The groups first single, “Tilt My Head” was released that very day with their first EP Girl’s Day Party #1 following two days later. They released promotional material for the EP, including another single, “How About Me” along with an accompanying music video on July 21.
With the insertion of new members Yuri and Hyeri the group followed up with a new album, aptly named Girl’s Day Party #2 on October 29 and a new lead single, “Nothing Lasts Forever.”
Subsequently following little commercial success, the group received its first big break with Girl’s Day Party #3. Their lead single “Twinkle, Twinkle” rose to #4 on Melon’s most downloaded singles in the month of April.
In May, the group commenced its first promotional tour and by September both their EP Everyday as well as the follow up Girl’s Day Party #4 continued to mirror their sustained digital success, reaching the top 50 of Melon’s digital chart upon their release.
In 2014, the group experienced unprecedented commercial recognition with their fourth EP Something 3. The title track “Something” reached over one million views a day and became their highest charting single, leaping to number 2 on Billboard’s Korea KPop 100 as well as The Gaon Digital chart.
The gamut of recognition continued as “Something” won five music awards and won the nomination for “Best Dance performance by a Female Group” at the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards.
The group’s assured success would in turn produce scrutiny. During a promotional internet stream on ChoiKoon TV for their title track, “Ring My Bell” in July 2015 the group was accused of “Disrespectful behavior” and appeared on said stream the following day to offer an apology. Nonetheless, the group’s popularity continued to sustain itself as their single maintained its reign on Melon’s Top 10 digital downloads chart.
Two years after their contentious yet fruitful milestone, the group entered a 21 month hiatus. Upon their return, Their final EP to date Everyday #5 would be the group’s swan song and the zenith of their musical accomplishments, achieving the No. 7 spot on Billboard’s World Albums with its release.
As of January 2019, it was indicated that the group no longer wished to maintain its contract with Dream T Entertainment and that it’s members unilaterally agreed to pursue their own interests.
Girl’s Day has not only invested itself musically, but socially and economically as well. They have endorsed over 20 brands most notably LG, Exxon and Bullsone resulting in arguably a greater clout then they ever had on a musical scale.
The group ranked 13th on Korea’s Celebrity Power List with Hyeri herself ranking 3rd. In a social context, they were appointed honorary ambassadors for South Korea’s, “Because I Am a Girl” campaign donating man hours as well as the entirety of their concert revenue in 2014 to support it.

Born in Daegu, South Korea. Sojin is a woman of substance rather than style. Her compositional expertise has yielded consistent material for Girl’s Day, albeit not exclusively. Upon the introduction of 2012’s, “Telepathy” she also contributed to Tokyo Girl’s, “It’s Snowing” with the aide of an anonymous male composer.
Thereafter she wrote the song, “Girl’s Day World” and co-wrote the lyrics for, “I Don’t Mind” alongside her fellow members. Afterwards, she composed and wrote the song “Let’s Go”, also for Girl’s Day.
Leadership and compositional attributes notwithstanding, Solji ventured into her first solo endeavor with her 2011 single, “Our Love Like This”. In 2014, she lended her talents opposite Hip-Hop artist Crucial Star in a remake of the Park Hye-Kyung song, “Three Things I Want To Give You” with the follow-up singles, “Finale” and “On Rainy Days” debuting that same year.
Also to her credit are appearances on variety shows and dramas including but not limited to I Trusted Him, King of Masked Singer, and Living Together In An Empty Room and as an MC on My Daughter’s Men.
Sojin, unsurprisingly, is a proficient pianist as well as an avid calligraphist. Her a-musical interests also include shopping, browsing interesting youtube videos and snacking. She draws inspiration from her idol Uhm Jung Hwa whom she describes as, “A long time leader of her generation who shows abundant expressiveness and depth.”

Yura was born on November 6, 1992 in Ulsan, South Korea. Her love of dancing led her to attend Ulsan Art High School as a dance major and she would later attend Dongduk Women’s University alongside fellow bandmate Minah.
Accompanied by a strong business savvy, Yura has not only veered into outside enterprises( she owns a building in Ulsan) she has invested in herself, too( her legs are insured for about 448,000 American Dollars). The other members of the band confirm this paradigm, calling her, “the real rich girl” for her business first approach.
To her credit, Yura has the most MC appearances with nine and won, “Most Popular” at the 2015 Cable TV Broadcast Awards. In 2018, she had the honor of hosting the Miss Korea Pageant, arguably the most distinguished television appearance of any of the band members.
Before her breakthrough with Dream T Entertainment, Yura had to wriggle her way out of an injunction filed against her by her former employer Action Music Entertainment claiming the vague premise of, “Inappropriate behavior” on the part of Yura. The Court ruled in Yura’s favor and the lawsuit was dropped.
On March 20, 2019 Yura joined Awesome ENT when he contract with Dream T expired. In the realm of non- musical interests, she enjoys painting and dancing( hence the dance major in high school, and the 448,000 dollar legs). She describes her ideal type of man as one who is attentive, has a sense of humor, and likes her.

Born in Incheon, South Korea Minah has an older sister, Linah, who doubles as her idol and musical contemporary( she is part of the group Wanna B.) Though Yura has been called the, “Real Rich Girl” of the group Minah is the only member to live in Gangnam, Seoul’s most exclusive and infamous neighborhood. This location was the inspiration for perhaps the most infamous KPop song and dance ever made, PSY’s, “Gangnam Style”.
While she was with the group, Dream T simultaneously promoted Minah as a solo act with release of 2015’s , “I Am a Woman Too”. The initial single, which was the title track, produced notable commercial recognition, peaking at 15th on the Gaon Album Chart. Her gains would be short lived, as her next release, “11” off of her Other Way album would fail to even chart.
Minah, as with the other members of the group, has acting and hosting appearances to her credit. Her debut being on the TVn variety show Roller Coaster in 2011, appearing in the segment,
“We’re Frustrated But Let’s Stick Together” with subsequent acting credits in the dramas, “Vampire Idol” (2012), “Family” (2012), “Master’s Son” (2013), “My Sweet Family”(2015) and “Beautiful Gong Shim” (2016)
Unlike her counterparts, she is also an accomplished actress. Taking the lead role in 2013’s Holly, Minah plays a High School student who aspires to be a ballerina.
For her stellar breakthrough performance, she won Best New Actress at the 13th Annual Gwangju International Film Festival. After procuring the win, she subsequently landed another role in the 2014 family comedy Dad For Rent.
Later on, she received critical acclaim on the silver screen for her leading role in 2016’s Beautiful Gong Shim, winning the award for best new actress. In 2019 she is due to return with the romantic comedy My Absolute Boyfriend based on the Japanese Manga of the same name.

Hyeri was born in Gwangju, South Korea. She is the oldest of two, with her sister Hye-Rim being 2 years younger. Having been scouted by the Dream T label since middle school, it would only be natural for her to become the face of the group, as well as the highest paid. She was not an original member, joining shortly after the departure of original members Jiin and Jisun.
She made her acting debut in 2012 in the drama, “Tasty Life” and hasn’t looked back since, appearing in nearly a dozen TV dramas and variety shows.
During the filming of MBC’s variety show Real Men, a brief clip of Hyeri displaying aegyo, the English equivalent of flirtatious baby talk, with one of her instructors caught fire and unintentionally became a viral video, reaching over one million views a day.
In 2015, she was cast in the lead role on the TV drama Reply 1988. The drama premiered in November and went on to become a smashing success with audience ratings peaking at 18.8%, making it the highest rated television drama in Korean history.
Hyeri received high praise and critical acclaim for her multiple award-winning role as the show’s female protagonist. After solidifying her legitimacy on the silver screen,
she was cast opposite CN Blue’s Kang Min-Hyuk in the SBS Drama Entertainer, adding to her arsenal of award-winning performances, this time winning the, “New Star Award”; adding to the other nine she procured throughout her illustrious television tenure.
In the wake of Reply 1988 and her incidental aegyo viral video, Hyeri soon became a desired target for advertising agencies across South Korea. By the start of 2016, she had shot over 30 advertisements for (But not limited to) Puma, Lotte Confectionary’s Ghana, Bohae and Amore Pacific’s Happy Bath.
Her branding power bolstered the sale of 7-Eleven Lunch boxes by 50% and Nonshin Ramen sales spiked by 78%. Page views of app DaBang tripled from 5 to 15 million overall and the number of weekly users rose from 600,000 to 1.5 million.
Hyeri is also a staunch social advocate, donating 50 million won to the Community Chest of Korea for Elderly Welfare. Later that year, she matched that total to the Korean Disaster Relief Organization for victims of the Seomun Market Fire.
She had also donated her time and effort for the “Free Semester Program” a program assembled by the Ministry of Education and was appointed one of the ambassadors of the, “Make Every Child Count” program on behalf of her NGO partnership with Plan Korea.
On April 30, 2019 Hyeri is reported to have signed an exclusive contract with creative group ING.
