About EXID
EXID (an acronym for Exceed In Dreaming) are a five member South Korean girl group formed on February 16,2012 under Yedang Entertainment and have been reorganized under the Banana Culture label since 2016.
Their first single HOLLA, along with the accompanying title track “Whoz That Girl” peaked at number 36 on the Gaon singles chart and sold 840,000 digital copies.
Originally consisting of six members, three of the original members (Yuzi, Dami and Haeryung) stepped down subsequently following their debut to pursue competing interests(Yuzi and Dami atteneded to their studies, while Haeryung pursued acting) and were replaced with current members Hyerin and Solji.
The group continued to perform under the radar until an unexpected break in 2014 with the release of their single, “Up and Down”. Although experiencing less initial success than their debut single with a paltry number 94 on the Gaon Singles Chart, a fan rendition of the song yielded viral success and a resulting rise into the top 10 would earn them accolades on musical programs Show! Music Core, The Music Trend and M! Countdown; taking home their first win on January 8, 2015.
In April 2015, they found commercial success with their second EP Ah Yeah, with the group receiving the most fan votes on the show Inkigayo and topping the charts on MBC’s Show Champion. In 2016 the group rebranded under Banana Project, A Chinese entertainment label, in order to garner attention outside of South Korea.
Both Yedang Entertainment and Banana Project would later merge under the new name Banana Culture. The merger became a catalyst for unprecedented success with first studio album Street peaking at two on the Gaon Album Chart and “L.I.E” at number 5 as a single.
With the debut of their first Chinese single, “Cream” came the hospitalization of Solji for hyperthyroidism. She would suspend all activity with the band for the following year while the other four members would continue to spread their brand with a promotional tour that would prove a milestone for their international growth with their EP Eclipse topping out at number five on Billboards Global album sales.
Upon Solji’s full return in November 2018, the group once again outdid themselves with the single “I Love You”. Their most successful single to date, coming out at number 5 on Billboard’s global singles chart.
In early 2019, Hani and Jeongwa decided to not renew their contract with Banana Culture, although the agency clarified that they would continue activities as a unit for another year until the conclusion of their second promotional tour of Japan, commencing in August 2019.

Solji Bio
Hailing from Seognam, South Korea Solji was actually the vocal trainer for the group before the original three members departed( Fun Fact she still does vocal coaching for South Korea’s Under 19 musical survival show- An American Idol type format for those under 19).
Although the front man for the group, her biology belies a less than sterling image. A high alcohol tolerance combined with her reputation for flatulence have earned her the nickname Heo Bad Gas.
But her triumph over hypothyroidism while still continuing to contribute to the band suggest the qualities of a strong and stable leader.
Winning South Korea’s King of Masked Singer competition in 2015 brought national attention to the EXID brand and her second victory in 2018 coincided with her triumphant return to the group and her inexplicable tie to its success both past and future. Before joining she was part of the two man R&B group B2B, with whom she had released 23 songs.
Some random facts: She love Men in white pants, her Chihuahua Choco, and her perfect bangs, although she hates how difficult they are to maintain. She also raises her legs in her sleep.

Le Bio
Le is a beautiful paradox. While she helped to maintain the continued stability of the band and its future by taking over in Solji’s absence, much of her journey can be illustrated through the records of her past experiences.
She was part of an underground group called “Jiggy Fellaz” where she rapped under the name Elly at the age of 18. She also collaborated with artist MBLAQ on the song, “Sugar Free” during this pre EXID period as well and was a former trainee under Cube entertainment before signing on with Yedang.
Le has six tattoos, all of them helping to link together the past and present, through memories and preferences both personal and emotional. Her first one expresses her love for music, while her second one reads, “inner peace” a reminder through all the ups and downs of the bands success that her own happiness is what matters the most.
A third one, which is a combination of a peace sign, heart, and smiley face; help embody her feminine nature despite her masculine stage presence. A fourth tattoo, inscribed, “Deny me or be doomed” is a line from a musical she saw about a trans rock member and their journey, a profound reminder that she is not just the band’s second fiddle but a crucial element to their continued success.
A fifth one, “Love” is again an ode to her feminine and deeply empathetic nature. The sixth one, “Frida” is an nod to her inspiration, Frida Kahlo, whose eccentric and bold style reflect much of her own personality (She named her own scooter- not something you hear about everyday).

Hani Bio
Precocious, smart, and shy Hani, while speaking three languages (Korean, English, and Chinese), also speaks for the public image of the group. And her own image is not only made in music but in an a number of acting cameos.
She appeared in several Korean dramas and variety shows such as King of Masked singer (Solji, Hyerin and Jeonghwa also made an appearance, not at the same time, though) as well as several episodes of, Back to School as well as the drama, Match Made in Heaven Returns and Crime Scene 2 .
She also further honed her image based leadership as hostess of the fashion show, A Style for You and as co MC with Heechul on the show Weekly Idol.
Her intelligence is unparalleled, with an IQ of 145 she is undoubtedly the most cerebral member of the group. Ironically, it could have been their downfall. She had made a deal with her mother that if EXID did not take off in the first three years of its inception, that she would be sent off to study( Thankfully, the song “Up and Down” was release exactly three years later).
Albeit shy and introverted by nature, this has not prevented Hani from branching out to fellow musicians socially and romantically. She had a brief affair with JYJ’s Xiah Junsu and she is friends with BTOB’s Hyunsik. Aside from that, she is alo part of an ongoing chat group called the 92liners with VIXX’ Ken, Mamamoo’s Mooonbyul, BTS’ Jin, B1a4’s Sandeul and Baro.

Hyerin Bio
Hyerin( or Hyelin) hails from Gwangju, South Korea and is slightly more enigmatic than the other band members. She carries less of a definable personality type an less is known about her past. She is also a skilled violin player, presumably because her aunt is a music teacher.
Her favorite food is Sushi, yet she hates Tuna because she claims its too greasy. Just As Le was, she is a former Cube trainee and just as Hyerin and Solji were as well as a former King of the Masked Singer participant. She was one of two, along with Jeongwa, to join EXID after the original three members departed.
Before EXID, she was a graduate of Dongduk Women’s University and a participant in the musical variety show Superstar K3, making it through to the “Superweek” round. Also to her credit are a few acting roles in Always Cantare, EXID’s Showtime, The Event King of the Month( which she released a single for) Empty the Convenience Store, and Battle Trip.

Jeonghwa Bio
While the Anyang, South Korea product is best known now for her work with EXID, it is her acting career which she has valued the mot personally and professionally.
Ever since childhood she has dreamed of becoming an actress and her resume speaks volumes to those dreams coming true. Beginning in third grade she made appearances in the TV drama Uprising of Wife .
Later on she made an appearance in Wives on Strike and has a number of appearances in Web dramas Webtoon Hero Toondra Show,Mask, and If Love Was Not Timeless, not to mention an acting credit in Led Apples “With the Wind” Music video. Her long neck and arms suggest a graceful and delicate figure uniquely suited to the image of an actress.
She also appears in Freshful Children Congress, Soulmates Returns, EXID’s Showtime, The Show and (Surprise!) King of Masked Singer. She also has an upcoming appearance scheduled on the upcoming web drama Member of Society, scheduled to air later in 2019. She plans to leave EXID and the Banana Culture label in 2019 to continue the pursuit of her acting career.
