About X1

X1 is a South Korean boy band that came about from the reality show “Produce X 101.” The show is a boy-group, survival, competition show. The members are chosen by the public through online voting and live voting with multiple elimination rounds.

The public also chooses the band’s debut song, group name, and concept. The group is given a 5-year contract. They must focus solely on the group for the first 2 1/2 years. Then they can focus on their own individual projects for the second half of the contract.

The group released their first EP titled Emergency: Quantum Leap, on August 27, 2019. It debuted at number one in Korea. They’ve also released the single “Flash,” from that EP, along with a video.

Han Seung Woo is a South Korean singer, dancer and rapper who goes by the stage name Seungwoo. He was born in Buk-gu, South Korea. He comes from a family of five. His sister is Han Sun-Hwa from the girl group Secret.

When Han was younger, he wanted to be a soccer player or a UFC fighter. But he began to sing along with his sister whenever she was singing and he finally decided he wanted to be a singer. He graduated from Busan Energy Science High School.

Han was previously a member of the boy group Victon. The group debuted on November 9, 2016. They released four albums and seven singles. Han was the leader, lead vocalist, rapper, and dancer. He was considered the “father” of the group.

In early 2019, Han participated in the musical reality show “Produce X 101.” He was voted in as the leader of the new band X1. The group debuted on August 27, 2019, with their first EP titled Emergency: Quantum Leap, and the single “Flash,” from that EP.

Han prefers to spend time alone. His special talent is imitating Pikachu and farm animals. His favorite song is “Crooked” by B2ST. He is interested in composing and writing songs. He developed a father/son relationship with Dongpyo while on the X1 show. Han is considered the strongest vocalist of the X1 group; however, he thinks he is the weakest.

Han is a fan of the group B2ST. His role models are G-Dragon and Taeyang. He would like to work with those artists someday. His life priorities are himself, his family, and friends.

Seungyoun Bio

Cho Seung Youn is a South Korean singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer. He goes by the stage name Seoungyoun. He was born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised as an only child.

Cho moved to Brazil during his elementary school years. He played soccer there and originally wanted to become a soccer player. Cho played for a Brazilian soccer team for two years.

He didn’t like Kpop music very much when he was younger, but when he became homesick for South Korea, he would watch music shows. That’s when he developed his interest in singing. He returned to South Korea for high school and graduated in 2016.

Cho auditioned over 50 times for different entertainment agencies before he was accepted by YG Entertainment. He was put in the group UNIQ, which is a Chinese-South Korean boy group. They were trained by Chinese and South Korean companies and debuted in 2014.

They recorded music in Mandarin and Korean. With tensions rising between China and South Korea, the group was not being promoted in Korea as much and he left the group and joined the collective group M.O.L.A. in 2015.

In 2016, Cho participated in the rap competition show “Show Me The Money.” Although he was eliminated early on, he got noticed for his rap stylings while still on the show. He collaborated with singer Flowsik and under the stage name “Luizy.” They released a self-produced hip-hop single “Recipe.”

Later in 2016, he released his first solo single “Baby Ride.” In 2017, he was invited to participate in an annual songwriting and production camp. From there, he appeared on the musical survival reality show “The Unit: Idol Rebooting Project.”

While on the show he met and worked with many other artists whom he worked with for the next two years. Cho is known for writing how own lyrics and producing his own music and has written music for other artists.

In March 2019, Cho became a contestant on the musical reality show “Produce X 101.” Initially, he placed 67th in the show’s ranking. But week after week, his ranking increased up until the second to last show where he placed 5th.

He was the member with the lowest initial ranking who eventually made it to the top. Cho debuted in the final lineup of the band X1 on August 27, 2019, when they released their first EP, Emergency: Quantum Leap.

Cho speaks Korean, Portuguese, English, and Chinese. He plays piano and guitar. He also likes beatboxing and rapping.

Kim Woo Seok is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and composer. He goes by the stage name Wooseok. He is best known as a member of the boy bands UP10TION and X1. He was born in Daejeon, South Korea and is an only child. He graduated from Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts with a major in Kpop music and acting.

In 2015, Kim appeared on the music program “Masked Rookie King” after training for a year. He was the first member to win a place in the project boy band UP10TION. He made his official debut with the band on September 11, 2015, with the EP, Top Secret. 

The group made their Japanese debut on March 8, 2017. However, Kim went on hiatus in early June due to mental health issues. After nine months, he was welcomed back into the group and they released their first full album Invitation. He was an MC for the music television show “The Show,” from 2016 to 2017.

In March 2019, Kim was named as a contestant on the musical elimination show “Produce X 101.” He was in the top ten from the beginning and placed second in the rankings with 1,304,033 votes. He joined the new band X1 and they debuted in August 2019. Kim was named the second most handsome trainee on the show.

His hobbies are composing and writing lyrics, and poetry. Kim can speak basic Chinese. His nickname is Desert Fox. His favorite artists are BTS. Kim loves to draw comics and he also plays video games in his spare time. His friends say he talks too much.

Kim Yo Han is a South Korean singer and rapper. He goes by the stage name Yohan. Kim was born in Jungnang-gu, South Korea and comes from a family of five. Kim attended Seoul Physical Education High School.

Kim’s father is a Taekwondo master and Kim was in Taekwondo for 13 years. He won two championships and qualified for the National Team. He received a scholarship for his Taekwondo placement, but he wanted to become an idol in a boy band and did not use the scholarship.

He is best known as a member of the group X1. The group was formed in 2019 from the reality show “Produce X 101.” He only trained three months before the show, which is comparably short training time.

Kim was ranked first on the reality show with 1,334,011 votes and joined the new band X1. They debuted on August 27, 2019, with the EP Emergency: Quantum Leap. 

Kim is thankful for the help he received from his fellow contestant Seungwoo. He stated he would not have gotten so far without his help. Kim also helped Junho practice when the judges called him “robotic.”

Kim injured himself while pre-recording their X1 debut and had to wear a medical boot. He was unable to perform until their performance at the Seoul Music Festival in October 2019.

Kim is known as being silly and carefree. He enjoys playing with his little sisters.

Lee Han Gyul is a South Korean singer and dancer who goes by the stage name Hangyul. He was born in Namdong-Gu, South Korea. He was abandoned at birth and adopted into his current family of five.

He attended Incheon High School. Lee wanted to become a singer to repay his family and friends for their support.

Lee made his debut as a member of the boy group IM in 2017. He was the main dancer, vocalist, and visual of the group.

Kang Min Hee is a South Korean singer who goes by the stage name Minhee. He was born in South Jeolla, South Korea. He comes from a family of four. Kang is a good student and attends Naming High School. He is in the top five percent academically at his school. He originally wanted to become a botanist.

While at his all-boys middle school, a casting team for the online musical “Starship,” picked him to debut. It’s a sci-fi musical comedy about an alien named “Bug” who wants to become a Starship Ranger. It was performed at Hoover-Leppen Theater in Chicago and then released on Youtube.

Kang performed in a music video for the duo Mad Clown and Ailee. He appeared with Ji Hansol and Yujin.

In 2019, Kang participated in the musical reality show “Produce X 101.” He trained for two years and nine months and memorized all of the songs for his evaluation so he could play any part in the new band.

However, he ranked fourth in the competition with 1,049,222 votes and won a place in the lineup of the new band X1. They debuted on August 27, 2019, with the EP Emergency: Quantum Leap. He was the leader of the X class and taught the others how to dance to the show’s title song.

Song’s role model is rapper Monstx Joohoney. He likes how he dominates the stage when he’s rapping. Song hopes to gain enough confidence to rap like that someday.

Nam’s hobbies are songwriting, composing music, beatboxing, and MIDI, which is a musical instrument digital interface. His favorite food is fried chicken and he doesn’t eat vegetables because he said: “you should enjoy eating.”
